Christmas Symbols:
SYMBOLS The Wreath—A symbol of the nature of real love that never ceases and is one continuous round of affection.
Fir Tree—The pure green of the stately fir tree remains green all year round. It is a reminder of everlasting hope. The needles point heavenward and remind us that our thoughts should also turn toward heaven.
The Star—The bright star that showed the way to the stable in Bethlehem is a sign that the promise of a Savior has been fulfilled.
The Candy Cane—A symbol for the shepherd's crook that is used to help bring back strayed sheep.
The Bell—A reminder of the bell tied to sheep and cows so that the sound of the bell would help the shepherds find them when they wandered.
Angels—Announce the Good News that the Word has been made flesh and our Savior King is born.
Candles—Provide light in the night just as Christ illuminates the darkness within us.
Holly Leaf—A symbol of immortality. Its branches are a reminder of the crown of thorns and its berries the blood our Lord shed.
The Magi—Remind us to consider what gifts we would give our King.
The Creche—The greatest gift God could give to us, His only Son.
Santa Claus—Symbol of the generosity and spirit of good will that should be in our hearts all year through. |
